Raye began tattooing professionally in 1960. He worked in Guildford in Surrey, and moved to Portsmouth some time later. It was here that he worked with the world famous Jessie Knight, the first lady of tattooing in England.
Raye moved to the Isle of Wight and was later offered a partnership with Joe Cleverley of Portsmouth and was later joined by internationally recognised Ron Ackers. Some years later, Raye moved to Southampton, opening a shop in Canute Road. He moved to Dorset and for a time, tattooed in Verwood. He began looking for premises in Bournemouth, until he found the current shop in Ferndown, 35 years later.
Over the years, Raye has met and worked with many of the great tattoo artists, some of whom have sadly passed and are greatly missed. There are many people all over the world who proudly wear a piece of tattooing history created by Raye. And to this day, he continues to design and create custom work and cover-ups. Tattooing remains the focus of Raye's life and will do for many more years to come.

Charlotte Pearman is Raye's eldest granddaughter.
From a young age, Charlotte has always been a naturally talented artist, specialising in murals and wall art, as well as painting, sketching and drawing. It is thanks to the combination of her artistic flair, and the knowledge passed on to her by her grandfather, that Charlotte has become such an accomplished tattoo artist.
